Carl Frampton: On Probation
6 x 29' - BBC ONE NI (2026)
In this hard-hitting series, former world champion boxer Carl Frampton trades his time in the ring for a deep dive into the little-known world of probation.
For the first time in the organisation’s history, the Probation Board for Northern Ireland has let the cameras in - and Carl uses his exclusive access to drill down to the inner workings of the organisation and explore who it is for and how it works.
In each episode, Carl goes behind the scenes at every level of probation. He sits alongside probation officers as they work to stop people reoffending. And he meets people with a history of offending, seeing them at home and at work to find out how they are getting on when probation’s not watching.
As Carl explains, he grew up in a part of Belfast where it would have been easy for life to have taken a wrong turn. But boxing took him in another direction. It makes him consider how people's traumatic experiences can impact upon their lives – and whether they can really change.
